Social Media

Social Media (Part 1)
Social Media has become a Buzzword since the dawn of 2013. Everybody, everywhere in the Ministry is discussing about the changing trends in media industry with the arrival of Social Media.
There may be many reasons, but I see two major factors behind this 'talk of the town'. First is a landslide victory of Narendra Modi in recent Gujarath Elections and another is an unidirectional march towards Rashtrapati Bhavan, of thousands of youths.
Both this had similarity in the sense that, both factors were used Social Media for Mass Mobilisation. Narendra Modi, even after odds with Traditional Media, could manage to influence voters through his huge following on Social Media. Whereas, the youths, gathered against the Rape incident in Delhi, at India Gate, with messages spread on Twitter and Facebook, who later on marched towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan, to make their voices audible.
Though the incidents are history now, but they have had a long lasting impact on the minds of our policymakers. Taking a cue from these incidents, Indian Government has become serious about this new emerging, unregulated medium.
